Surgical audit - Who owns the data?

Clinical audit forms part of our every day practice and accurate data forms the foundation on which meaningful decisions can be made. A recent symposium on "Surgical audit - Who owns the data?" was held under the auspices of the surgical forum of Great Britain and Ireland. It explored the various aspects of data collection, including its (mis)interpretation, reliability and ownership. It does make for an interesting read with plenty of points for discussion.
