PRESIDENT'S PRIZE
(Title changed from Llandudno Vase, 2005)
A prize to be awarded annually to a Fellow of the Association for the best presentation at the Meetings of the Association. The President shall select the Fellow who shall receive a cheque, the amount to be decided by the Council, to help pay his or her expenses to present the same paper at an overseas meeting.
THE NORMAN ROWE LECTURE
(Title changed from President's Lecture, 1993)
The Norman Rowe Lecture shall be given at either the Spring or Autumn Meeting of the Association. The Lecturer, who need not necessarily be a member of the Association, shall be chosen by the President. He shall be awarded an honorarium, the amount to be decided by the Council, and shall be eligible for a refund of travelling and accommodation expenses.
THE BAOMS SURGERY PRIZE
(Title changed from DePuy Surgery Prize, 1997).
A prize and medal awarded annually, which will be considered a high honour, to be awarded to a person or persons who are adjudged to have made a major contribution to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the widest sense. Any Fellow of the Association of less than 10 years (from appointment to the first substantive NHS or equivalent consultant Post) shall be eligible. The Endowment Sub-Committee of the Association shall select and recommend a candidate to Council retrospectively. There shall be no submission of research. The prize may be shared or withheld.
THE DOWN SURGICAL PRIZE
(Title changed from Maurice Down Research Prize, 1975).
A prize and Medal awarded annually, which will be considered a high honour, to be awarded to a person or persons who are adjudged to have made a major contribution to Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, in the widest sense. Any Fellow or Member or any category of Fellowship or Membership of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons shall be eligible. The prize may be shared or withheld and may be awarded twice to the same person.

Prize winners must be employed as trainees in oral and maxillofacial surgery or in equivalent posts. The inclusion of a Fellow's name in the title of the paper as given at the meeting excludes it from consideration for the prize.
However, if the name of a Fellow is listed as a co-author, in order for the abstract to be considered for prizes a written statement must be provided by the Fellow stating the extent of the contribution he/she made towards the paper.
The inclusion of a Fellow's name in the title of the paper as submitted for publication in the British Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is, however, permitted.
The prize winner shall receive a cheque (at the discretion of Council). The prize may be shared or withheld in any year. The prize winner shall he recommended to Council by the Prize Award Sub-Committee, normally convened by the Honorary Editor.
Eligibility: Higher Trainees in the Fellows in Training membership category.
THE PAUL TOLLER RESEARCH PRIZE
An annual prize awarded for the best presentation on a research topic given at the meetings of the Association. Prize winners must be employed as trainees in oral and maxillofacial surgery or in equivalent posts. The inclusion of a Fellows name in the title of the paper as given at the meeting excludes it from consideration for the prize. However, if the name of a Fellow is listed as a co-author, in order for the abstract to be considered for prizes a written statement must be provided by the Fellow stating the extent of the contribution he/she made towards the paper.
