Cranio-Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Rob Bentley describes high-risk reconstructive surgery to save a stroke patient’s life
Consultant Cranio-Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon Rob Bentley carried out the high-risk reconstructive cranioplasty that played a key role in the road to recovery for stroke patient Richard Gray, revealed in the BBC2 Horizon documentary My Amazing Brain 9pm Monday 5 February.
The Horizon programme follows the story of Richard Gray and his four-year recovery from a life-changing catastrophic stroke, recorded by his documentary film-maker wife Fiona Lloyd-Davies.
The documentary hears from Rob Bentley and other surgeons involved in Richard Gray’s care, together with the clinicians and therapists who were integral to his remarkable recovery. They describe the life-saving, high-risk reconstructive surgery through to the intensive rehabilitation programmes that chart the recovery process.
