Durham to host the 2018 BAOMS Annual Scientific Conference
21 May 2018
The 2018 Annual British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (BAOMS) Scientific Meeting takes place from June 20-22 this year in Durham’s Gala Theatre, and reflects President Ian Martin’s personal vision for the speciality and its future.
As Ian Martin explains: “I’ve put together a wide-ranging programme, structured to meet members’ educational needs by concentrating the plenary, masterclass and keynote sessions on areas of everyday practice.
“I am particularly honoured that RCS England President Derek Alderson will present the president’s lecture, and delighted to welcome Professor Klaus-Dietrich Wolff, European Association for Cranio Maxillo Facial Surgery (EACMFS) President, who will deliver this year’s Norman Rowe lecture on reconstructive microsurgery in oral and maxillofacial surgery.”
Durham offers an impressive backdrop to an inspiring conference programme that offers lectures updating the new OMFS curriculum, oral medicine and mucosal dysplasia – something for everyone.
There is an impressive collection of pre-meeting practical and innovative courses too that accompanies the main conference programme. The pre-meeting courses range from dermal filler and complex implants to a cadaveric hands on course covering facial reanimation. Morning masterclasses look in detail at cosmetic fillers and robotic surgery.
Ian Martin advises colleagues to book early for the conference because of space constraints, and particularly the courses and masterclasses to be certain of getting a place. He promises colleagues “ample opportunity to listen and engage in debate during the free papers and a wide selection of e-posters”.
